And the sunshine goes on - blue skies and heat (too much heat for some, but let's not complain!). Tea has been taken on the terrace and icecreams are on the menu. The windows are open and the fresh air is in and it's amazing what a difference it makes. Everyone just seems to feel chilled and relaxed and in the right frame of mind to enjoy the summer.
Sadly, Mr Bev has decided that he will not be fit enough to return to work and has resigned. As we suspected this might happen, we had been making enquiries and planning the future of his role at Westlands and we are delighted that Howard will be joining us in a week or two. Howard has had years of experience as a driver and he was born and brought up in Devon - an ideal combination for taking our residents out and about to explore our beautiful countryside. Having been short of trips out for the past few months, we can't wait! Howard will also take over Bev's responsibilities for general maintenance (all those light bulbs!), gardening and fire training. We look forward to welcoming him to Westlands and wish Mr Bev well for the future.
July is traditionally our month for a Big Social and this year we are having a Nostalgic Afternoon on Wednesday 21st July. The always-popular Viv Wilson wil be providing the entertainment and we'll have cream teas and strawberries - in the garden if it's still dry or in the sun lounge if it's wet (or too hot!). Everyone is welcome - bring your friends - Liz will try to arrange transport if needed, just call her on 01626 773007.
And Room 2 is stiill available although we've had a succession of respite guests enjoying its fantastic view over the river. It is newly decorated and refurbished and just waiting for the right person to move in. Call now if you are interested ..... and we look forward to welcoming you to Westlands.
