News & Events at Westlands Retirement Home
So Christmas is over and we have all eaten too much and celebrated too well. It was great to have so many family and friends join us for lunch on Christmas Day. It's much more of a party when there are lots of people to share the cracker-pulling and celebrations.
My thanks go to all the staff who worked over Christmas. We couldn't do it without you and it's your efforts that make Christmas as good as it gets at Westlands.
And what a Party we had this year! As always we had a great turn-out, the food was fantastic, the entertainment excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed our surprise guest, Mother Christmas! We raised nearly £100 for Epilepsy Research and a good time was had by all. We can't wait for next year .....
In the run-up to Christmas we had three visiting choirs to get us into the mood and then 16 residents and staff had an early Christmas dinner at Cockhaven Manor. And to keep everyone in the spirit, Viv Wilson and Helen Bawden (guitar & harp) came in to sing our favourites and more carols just a couple of days before Christmas.
It usually goes a bit quiet at Westlands after Christmas, but this year we went to the Pantomime on Sunday and Anthony Powell came in on New Year's Eve to give us a programme of classical music. Liz will be planning our January programme just as soon as she comes back from her week off and anyone who would like to join us should call her on 01626 773007 for details of events and activities in the New Year.
Diana is away from 3rd to 12th January so this website won't be updated again for a while when I look forward to bringing you news of everything we are planning for 2009.
So please keep in touch. Come and join in the fun. January and February can be long, cold months but we will keep everyone warm, cosy and entertained and we'll be delighted to see you.
