Westlands Retirement Home keeps one room specially for people who want to stay just for a week, a month or maybe only a night or two. It is a twin room (but more often used by single guests) with its own en-suite shower room.
This room is used for a wide variety of purposes such as holidays, convalescence and “carer breaks” when we take over the care of one person while the carer has a rest. Sometimes the carer comes too because people want to stay together or sometimes the carer takes a complete break and has a holiday elsewhere. It can also be used for a “trial stay” before deciding whether or not to move in permanently.
There are limited options for people to have holidays when they need company – with or without care. Westlands Retirement Home fills this gap and we go out of our way to make sure that our visitors get out and about to see the area as well as having all their needs met at the Home.
We are as flexible as possible about ways of using this room and we are always happy to talk to people to see if Westlands can assist in meeting their needs.
The cost of the respite room is £75 per night for single occupancy. For double occupancy we charge £75 per person if care is needed or £65 per person if no care is required. This includes full board, 24-hour care and activities and outings that take place during your stay.
Although the room gets booked well in advance, we do get cancellations so it is always worth calling if you would like to visit at short notice. Bookings can be made for any length of time, from one night upwards.
Please note that the respite room does not have an open-aspect view. It is a light, bright room but its big window looks out on to a “well”. However, visitors are welcome in the sun lounge or on the terrace where they can enjoy our magnificent views of the river and the hills beyond.
